Timethy, sorry for the late reply, but congrats on getting that Nibble stuff - I want to get that full collection soon, too. And that project sounds great - definitely let me know how it goes!

I bought the Nibble Mag collection as a gift to myself! Here is the command summary for Sound Wizard:

& - Displays command summary
&VOLUME V - Adjust volume. V should be 0-20
&BEEP Pitch,Dur - Short beep. Pitch and Dur are 0-255
&WHITE Pitch,Dur - White Noise, with average Pitch
&TRILL Pitch1,Pitch2,Rate,Dur - Alternates between Pitch1 and Pitch2; a smaller Rate means faster trill
&FADE Pitch,Rate,Velocity - White noise, with volume gradually adjusted by an amount equal to Velocity (-127 to 128)
&SYNTH Pch1,Vlct1,Pch2,Vlct2,Rate,Dur - Alternates between Pch1 and Pch2, while adjusting them by Vlct1 and Vlct2

My best Sound Wizard program was a Wargames-style hacking game that simulated dial-up modem sounds. I want to find that disk!

Right now I'm working on my own fast block graphics library based on Nibble's "Graphics Workshop" columns around 1983/1984. I'm using Merlin assembler, playing with Y-lookup tables right now. It will have an ampersand interface for Applesoft, and with any luck it will work alongside Sound Wizard. This was a dream of mine many years ago, I'll let you know if I am successful.

Hi Timethy, glad you're playing with Sound Wizard - it is fun! I only have the program as well (I've bought the "Nibble Books" pdf collection from http://www.nibblemagazine.net , but not the full magazine collection yet), so all I've gleaned is from that little text that prints out when the routine first loads, that lists the commands and the ranges for the parameters, and I experimented aroudn with that. When I finally get the Nibble Magazine pdfs, I'll post a summary here of the command descriptions.

Hope your IIc adventure goes well, too. :)

Hi there!

I'm playing with my old //c machines again, and trying to build some fun programs. I remember typing in the Sound Wizard binary from Nibble Magazine! I downloaded it again and what fun. I definitely want to play with this some more. I don't have the original article anymore, do you know the parameters for Sound Wizard? The demo BASIC program doesn't explain anything.

Enjoy your adventure :)
